Standing on the banks of the Swan River, the East Perth Power Station is one of the State’s most significant industrial heritage buildings. After more than 25 years of dormancy, the magnificent buildings are to be rejuvenated and brought back to life for all Western Australians to enjoy.

The State Government has committed significant resources to the 8.5-hectare project area, which will be planned and managed by the East Perth Redevelopment Authority.

The East Perth Redevelopment Authority developed a Draft Masterplan for the site’s future use in 2004, which went out to the public during a three-month community consultation period (7 November 2004 - 28 February 2005).

Site works commenced in July 2004 and included a general clean up, building stabilisation and weather proofing. Stabilisation works were completed in early 2006.

In February 2008, the State Government announced that the WA Museum will relocate to the Power Station building. The East Perth Redevelopment Authority is now finalising its Masterplan for the surrounding land.
