Stabilising Works Update
The East Perth Redevelopment Authority commenced a comprehensive works program to stabilise and weatherproof the East Perth Power Station buildings in early July 2004. The objective of the works was to preserve the shell and structure of the buildings and prevent further deterioration, while plans were developed for its adaptive reuse. Works were completed in March 2006.
Asbestos roofs were removed and replaced with new sheeting, crumbling concrete was removed, the steel structures were cleaned and checked to ensure safety while years of pigeon droppings, broken glass and other debris was cleaned from the interior of the buildings.
