Project Overview
The East Perth Power Station is one of the most significant heritage buildings in Western Australia and is an important part of the State’s industrial history.
In November 2003, the State Government approved a $10.9 million proposal to stabilise and secure the East Perth Power Station site.
The East Perth Redevelopment Authority was responsible for the site works, which started in July 2004.
The Authority has also undertaken work to prepare a Masterplan for the site’s future use, with the Draft Masterplan released for public consultation in November 2004. Work is now underway to finalise the Masterplan for the site surrounding the Power Station building, after the State Government announced the relocation of the WA Museum to the heritage building.
Ultimately, the plan will ensure the riverfront Power Station site is accessible to the public and the project will become an integrated, transit-oriented development.
