Landscaping and Public Open Spaces
Key features of the landscape plan, which will showcase the history of the site and Western Australia wherever possible, include:
- A grand forecourt of trees and landscape to provide space for large groups of people.
- Courts created to the north of the main building to provide alfresco entertainment, exhibition and breakout spaces.
- Renewal and regeneration of natural local habitats on the river edge.
- The geometry of the central plaza and forecourt will be reminiscent of the flows of electricity and energy through the power grids with a sculptural piece of the old power grid infrastructure at its point. The space will be planted with large trees with views and a continuous green band through the centre of the development.
- A heritage rose garden, originally created by the workers, will contrast with the immense scale of the power station.
- A boulevard of trees along Summers Street; and
- Deciduous trees along the north-south landscape linkages to provide shade in summer and sunlight in winter.

- Power Station precinct - a grand forecourt of trees and landscaping to provide space for large gatherings
- Northern gardens - courtyards for alfresco entertainment, exhibition and breakout spaces
- Swan River frontage - river edges stabalised with reeds to create natural river edge stability and habitat
- Freeway interface - wetland habitats planted with indigenous species common to the Swan River before settlement
- Central plaza and adjoining pavements - axial planting to define the grand forecourt space and paved to provide a gathering and multi-function space
- Heritage rose garden - upgraded with additional rose bushes and ground covers, on a domestic suburban scale as intended by the workers who first created the garden
- Building courtyards - incorporating the urban landscape theme to bring the plaza trees and paving flow to inner, private spaces
- Summers Street - a boulevard of trees defining the vista to the river
- Summers Street bridge - developed as a sculptural element
- East Parade - lawned areas with trees to provide landscape to fronts of buildings
- North-South street corridor - each link is planted to provide a treed boulevard of seasonally changing streetscape
